5 Types of Hangers that you should need in Your wardrobe

Clothes hangers first appeared in 1869 in New Britain’s O.A. North. Before its massive production during the Industrial Revolution, royalties and aristocrats only used Hanger varieties because they had more clothes to hang on, especially as their large Victorian costumes resembled flying birds. The most popular hangers of the time were named Eagle Wing Hangers. While not a ground-breaking contribution to the genre, Clothing Hangers has been used extensively since its inception. It is the most common DIY material used in school and the second most stolen hotel item next to towels. Collectors are also willing to pay considerable amount of dollars for antique hangers.

Types of hangers / Hanger varieties

There are different types of hangers / Hanger varieties. They are plastic hangers, garment hangers, cloth hanger, wooden hangers and wire hanger.

Garment hanger

Garment hanger, coat hanger or coat hanger, device in the shape of human shoulders which are designed to hang a coat, jacket, atercoat, shirt, blouse, or hanger for hanging shorts, pants or skirts with a low bar to prevent human shoulders from hanging. Clamp to hang pants, skirts or kilos. 

Both types of the hangers can be combined in a single hanger. There are three basic types of clothes hangers. The first is the wire hanger, it is made up of a simple loop wire, shaped like a flat triangle, which has continuation into the hook at the top. 

The second is a wooden hanger, which consists of a flat piece of wood cut and it is sanded with sand to prevent wear, and the hook, usually metal, protrudes from the point. Some wooden hangers are made with round bar from tip to tip. It forms a flat triangle. This bar is designed to hang pants and the jacket which are made together. The third type and most commonly used plastic coat hangers in today’s world are those that mimic the shape of a wire or wooden hanger. Plastic coat hangers are also produced in sizes to suit children’s clothing designs. Some hangers have clips at the bottom to suspend the skirts. Dedicated skirt and pants hangers may not use the triangular shape. Instead of that they use a rod with clips.

Plastic hanger

Although hangers do not immediately update the look of the wardrobe as wood hangers do, there are some reasons why people use plastic hangers on their shelves. Most plastic hangers are not nearly as expensive to buy and as they are available in many styles and sizes, you can easily find the perfect ones to meet your needs. If the plastic hangers are dirty, they are very easy to wipe with a cloth and there is no need to worry about the hanger rusting or growing light or mildew. Unfortunately, plastic hangers do not last as long as other types of hangers and when they break, there is no way to recycle them, so they take up space in the landfill.

They bend and twist over time, which means you need to replace them daily to make your outfits look better. Unfortunately, if someone does not note on the condition of your plastic hangers, you may not realize that they are deformed and your clothing may suffer from it.

Wooden Hanger varieties

Wooden hangers are available in many styles and features. All exposed to somewhat finished wood and this will relax your wardrobe. Automatically, they look better than other types of hangers. The overall look of the wardrobe is instantly enhanced. They are often wider than other types of hangers, which helps to distribute the weight of the hanging object more evenly, preventing the garment from expanding out of shape. Because they are so durable, It does not require to replace your wooden hangers , which will save you a lot of money in the long run. When you choose wooden hangers your dress will not stretch, it will last longer and look better. This is especially important for people who like to hang t-shirts as plastic and wire hangers instantly extend the collars.

Wire hangers

The problem with wire hangers is that they vary greatly in their quality. If you have previously opted for dry cleaning, you have probably received thin wire hangers with your clothes. Cleaners use these because they can easily buy them in packs without having to spend a fortune on the hangers they will give to their customers. These thin wire hangers last for a while, they have no need to hold their shape for a long time and your clothes can become misshapen when they are hung. You should also look for rusty wire hangers that can damage your clothes instantly. Because of this problem, it has become very popular in the past or plastic materials to cover their wire hangers and help protect their clothing.

Cloth Hanger varieties

Cloth hangers are also now rarely made of rubber material. A new, yet useful variation on traditional fabric hangers are folding fabric hangers designed to be inserted through the collar area to facilitate use and reduce stretching. Some hangers have clips at the bottom to suspend the skirts. Dedicated skirt and pants hangers can be distributed in a triangular shape and can be a rod with clips. It is said that President Thomas Jefferson invented the wooden clothes hanger.  Timberlake Wire and Novelty Company employee, Albert J. Parkhouse is also credited with this discovery. A wire clothes hanger is also a feature prop in a central scene from the 1981 film Mummy Dearest, in which Joan Crawford, played by Fane Dunway, goes to her daughter Christina’s room at night, and the clothes hang nicely in her room while the girl sleeps. Christina is angry to learn that she has once again used a cheap wire hanger, waking her up and throwing it at her instead of a good one as she was ordered to use it. “No wire hangers, ever!” Quickly entered pop culture and the phrase is now synonymous with those who always wanted to be in control.
